You have to know the NAME of the exercise to find it. I had to create a spreadsheet to organize the exercises by target area of the body before I could use the book. Recipes are organized poorly, as well. They are lumped together by meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner) rather than by your body's oxidation type, WHICH IS THE POINT OF THE BOOK!
Highly recommend

I'm a skeptic. I've tried a million things to lose those last few pounds. I wasn't overweight when I started this program but I just wanted to get more toned for bikini season. Well it worked. This program is difficult but totally worth it. I'm stronger and thinner than I've ever been before.
My only complaint is that sometimes the phrasing on the workouts was a bit confusing. It's not a big deal though, I'm not complaining about the results I got!
Buy this book. You won't be disappointed. |
Good but returned the item...check your library

The book did not have what I was looking for. I am reading another book by Jillian regarding hormone levels and food products which seems good so far. Maybe check this one out from your library before buying.
Great Resource

The only thing that I didn't know is that this book is a 30-day plan. Its not meant to be a life long change which I was looking for. I enjoyed this book very much because it gives great insight to things that can be changed long term. It helps to get your mind headed in the right direction to make the big change that you are looking for. It is definitely worth the money if your serious about making a change.
Inspiring, but flawed

I have a hard time giving this only 3 stars because I am so inspired by Jillian. The book completely inspired me and I dove in 100% to this program. Right away, though, I found some problems with the program's set-up.
1) The meals make 4-6 servings, so it's hard to make them for an individual. Most can't be reheated, so that option was out. This got incredibly frustrating! I had to venture out and make my own meals that were not in the program.
2) The workouts require that you read ahead and figure out how to do the exercises beforehand. There are no page numbers listed on the workout plan, so you have to flip around during the workout, leading to wasted time. The workouts don't repeat, so every day you're flipping around the book. No chance of getting confortable with any of the moves. (I ended up using her DVDs instead.)
3) Jillian doesn't explain the science behind the slow/normal/fast oxidizer idea, which left me with lots of questions (ie: what does that MEAN?). It made me doubtful!
Overall, the premise of the program is to count your calories, eat according to the type of oxidizer you are, and work out HARD. I lost weight, but mainly because of her DVDs and counting calories. I'd say check it out at the library, but don't buy the book... buy her workout DVDs! |

This book contains an excellent plan to get in incredible shape! I do warn you though -- you need to be in fairly good shape to do this. There's a test in the beginning, I would recommend making sure you can do that before starting. There are some intense strength moves, so practice push ups before starting! Some of the meals are gross, but most of them are delicious and healthy. I plan on eating some of these meals on a regular basis after the 30 days. Also -- I'm on Day 20 of the program and I feel great! I have only lost a pound or two, but I'm already at my healthy weight and I've toned up a lot. Definitely take the before pictures like she says in the beginning, it makes you feel great when you're this far in!

I am sure that this book would do what you need it to do with respect to weight loss regarding the diet and workout plan. Why she would recommend some of the brands and types of food (Splenda, lunchmeat, etc.) is beyond me. Must have been before she was enlightened and wrote Master Your Metabolism. What was she thinking? This is definitely not clean organic eating.
Impressive!

I have been using this book for two weeks and have lost 10 Pounds. I am only trying to lose my last 20 pounds which is what the book is made for. I am sure I can do it with this easy to use instructions but you really do have to work hard to keep it up. If you don't have the willpower than you have to find it.

This is a great book! Not only does Jillian give a detailed program, but she is honest in her writing about what a person needs to do to be serious about getting lean.

When I got down to my last 20lbs I got Making The Cut. I changed up a few recipes from the book because of not being able to find certain ingredients in my area or I knew I wouldn't like the recipe. When I made a change I would swap it with another recipe from the book. I followed the circuit exercises, watched my sodium intake as recommended and got in 60-80 oz of water. At the end of the month I lost 8lbs. It's a great book for those last few pounds that are hard to take off. Periodically I will do the exercises from this book just to change up my routine. This is a great book to have around. Anything Jillian puts out is Great because it is from the heart. I haven't found any of her products to fail me yet. I lost 57.7lbs and not one time did I go to a gym.

Was not aware this book was geared toward the last 10-20 lbs, and those who just need to sculpt.
Consiquently had to order another book- Winning by Losing- Jillian Michaels
for my personal goals. I hope the other book comes in handy too someday.

I really enjoy this book. Easy to follow, clear ideas. The recipes are my favorite part of the book. They are delicious, easy to make, and most of all healthy. Very much worth the money.

Jillian Micheals "Making The Cut" is one of the best investments I have made. I am a HUGE fan of "The Biggest Loser" and of course Jillian Micheals. I own her book "Master your Metabolism" and her workout video "The 30 Day Shed." IF you are looking to have a rockin body and learn a lot about your own body, this is the book for you. And the best part is...you don't even feel like you are on a diet!
